Rooftop solar provides many benefits.<\/p>

Some of those benefits go far beyond your home or business.<\/p>

When “behind-the-meter” customers invest their own money to put solar on their roofs, they also become energy producers.\u00a0<\/p>

If many building owners produce solar electricity from lots of rooftops, then utilities can reduce or delay building expensive, large-scale generation.<\/p>

Demand for electricity is growing everywhere. Utilities need to build additional capacity. With the right incentives, rooftop solar can be added quickly.<\/p>

Glaciers and winter snowpacks feed river flows in spring and summer. As the world becomes warmer, annual winter snowfall can become smaller. Glaciers are disappearing. Drought conditions can reduce the volume of water flowing through rivers.<\/p>

For utilities that rely on hydro-electric dams, less water flow means less electricity. Utilities that burn coal, burn natural gas or use nuclear also need water for stem and for cooling. If water becomes scarce, they may have to curtail electricity generation.<\/p>
