This book details the struggles of an international student, Parth, in Australia. Parth was full of dreams when he left India and thought his life and that of his family would change as soon as he landed in Australia. He is confronted with the hard truths of visa limitations, a tough job market, and housing problems. These accounts are based on facts similar to testimonies of people who have been in similar situations. Parth is a true hero and a model to readers because he never gave up his dreams, even if it meant sleeping in the streets or working delivery jobs.
While Parth’s story ended in success and many students would like to follow in his footsteps, the author cautions that these would contribute to draining India of its much-needed brains. This issue is well-known, but somehow nobody has a solution to this. This book gives us a great opportunity to reflect on our stance regarding brain drain.
I am Pavithra Srinivasan, first author of Wings of Victory. I am from India and I came to Australia in 2017, to pursue my Bachelors in Information Systems. I came here when I was eighteen years old. It was my parents decision to send me to Australia. They had a hope that I would flourish if I studied in a foreign country. I was very grateful for their thoughts but later the perspective changed.
Everything was okay until I had to maintain the work-life balance. It was extremely hard to get a part time job in Australia. I used to apply for ten to fifteen jobs every day, but most of them ended up with rejections. I did not know the reason behind it at that time. But I later realized that the business owners refrained from hiring unknown migrants. I waited for three months just for a part time job.
“The Wings of Victory” by Niyati Patel and Pavithra Srinivasan is about the people who are striving hard to comfort their family and satisfy their needs. The book focuses on a protagonist named Mr.Parth who settled in life after a huge struggle, trying to satisfy the needs of his hard working mother named Divya, young sister named Ananya, and father Chintan diagnosed with a medical condition. The storyline moves on with Mr.Parth attending an interview and speaking about the path that led to his success. Many of us want to settle abroad for a good living but the story will completely change your opinion on this. The book is recommended for ages thirteen plus since the struggle and situation which Mr.Parth undergoes is difficult to understand for young children. The book aims to be pretty much interactive, supportive, and provide mental support.
Being an author, reader, and editor I truly love the message conveyed by the book “The Journey to Success”
